Butter + Salt Pancakes

Starting off the weekend right with buttery, salty, fluffy pancakes.

My absolute favorite donut shop in Orange County makes a butter + salt donut which is actul heaven in a donut. They're known for their maple bacon and huckleberry donuts, but I always go for the classic butter + salt flavor.

I haven't been to sidecar donuts since the beginning of the pandemic and got some inspiration from Shut the Kale up's instagram. These pancakes are seriously delicious and hits the spot when you're craving something sweet + salty in the morning.

What do you need?

Makes about 3 medium size pancakes.

Ingredients:

3/4 cup all-purpose flour (can sub for your favorite gf flour)

1 1/2 tsp baking powder

1/2 cup unsweetened vanilla almond milk

1 egg

1 tbsp melted salted butter

pinch of salt

Toppings: Must sprinkle coarse or flaked salt and butter to get the full effect.

How do you make them?

  1. Start by heating your pan to medium heat (I use a non-stick greenpan...the best cookware ever). Spray a little coconut oil or butter in the pan.

  2. Pour the batter into the pan and wait until the pancake starts to bubble before flipping

  3. Cook the pancakes until golden brown on each side.

  4. Stack the pancakes on your plate and top with butter, salt, and maple syrup to sweeten them up.

Voila!
